EXERCISE PROBLEMS

 

1. A transformer is having 1000 turns in the secondary, and 100 turns in the primary winding. If a voltage of 230 V at 50 Hz is applied across the primary, find the secondary induced emf. [Ans: E2=2300 V]

 

2. A single phase, 50 Hz, core type transformer has a core area of 400 cm2 permissible maximum flux density is 1.18 T. Calculate the number on the high and low voltage windings for a 3.3 kV/230 V ratio. [Ans: THV=315, TLV=22]

 

3. A single‒phase transformer has 500 primary and 1000 secondary turns. The net cross‒sectional area of the core is 50 cm2. If the primary winding is connected to a 50 Hz supply at 400 V. Calculate (a) the peak value of the flux density in the core and (b) the voltage induced in the secondary winding. [Ans: Bm=0.7207 Wb/m2, E2 = 800 V]
