INTRODUTION

 

Everyday conversations are simple, routine exchanges we have in daily life to communicate thoughts, feelings, and needs. These conversations often happen at home, in college, at shops, or in public places. Practicing such conversations helps students gain confidence in speaking English naturally. They usually involve polite greetings, asking questions, giving answers, and expressing feelings in short, clear sentences.


Sample 1: At the College Canteen

 

Student A:  Hi, what are you ordering today?

Student B: I'm thinking of getting a dosa. What about you?

Student A: I'll go for an idli and coffee.

Student B: Coffee sounds good. Do you like tea?

Student A: Not really, I prefer coffee.

Student B: Okay, let's sit near the window.

Student A: Sure. Is this your first time eating here this week?

Student B: Yes, I was busy with classes.

Student A: Same here. The food here is always fresh.

Student B: True, that's why I like this canteen.

 

Sample 2: At the Library

 

Student A: Excuse me, can I sit here?

Student B: Yes, please go ahead.

Student A: Are you preparing for the exams?

Student B: Yes, I have two tests next week. What about you?

Student A: I'm revising my English notes.

Student B: That's good. Which subject do you find difficult?

Student A: Oh, I like Mathematics. I can help you if you want.

Student B: That's very kind of you. Thank you.

Student A: No problem, let's prepare together.

 

Sample 3: At a Bus Stop

 

Student A: Do you know when the next bus to the city will come?

Student B: I think it should be here in 10 minutes.

Student A: Oh good, I hope it's not too crowded.

Student B: Usually at this time it is crowded.

Student A: Where are you going?

Student B: I'm going to the railway station.

Student A: That's nice. I'm going to the city center.

Student B: Do you travel by bus often?

Student A: Yes, almost every day. It's cheaper than auto.

Student B: True, buses are more convenient for students.

 

Sample 4: At a Bookshop

 

Customer: Good morning. Do you have English grammar books?

Shopkeeper: Yes, sir. Which level do you want?

Customer: A book suitable for engineering students.

Shopkeeper: This one is very popular.

Customer: How much does it cost?

Shopkeeper: It's Rs.250.

Customer: Okay, I'll take it. Do you accept card payment?

Shopkeeper: Yes, we accept both card and UPI.

Customer: Great, I'll pay with UPI.

Shopkeeper: Thank you. Please come again.

 

Sample 5: Meeting a New Classmate

 

Student A: Hi, is this seat taken?

Student B: No, you can sit here.

Student A: Thanks. By the way, I'm Rahul.

Student B: Nice to meet you, Rahul. I'm Karthik.

Student A: Which branch are you in?

Student B: I'm in Mechanical. What about you?

Student A: I'm in Computer Science.

Student B: That's great. How do you find the campus?

Student A: It's big and friendly. Do you stay in hostel?

Student B: Yes, I do. Hostel life is fun.
