Applications of OOP

• There are various applications that are written in C++. Following is a list.

1. Operating system

• Various operating systems are written in C++. For example Windows XP, Android is built on top of Linux, and a large portion of it is written in C. There are some parts of code written in C++, Google Chrome OS.

2. Web sites

• The various high performance components and high reliability components are developed in C++ for the web sites like Facebook, Amazon, YouTube.

3. Multimedia players

• The VLC media Player, Winamp, Apple iPod Software are developed in multimedia player.

4. Compilers

• The Microsoft Visual C++ compiler, Microsoft Visual Basic, Microsoft .NET CLR and Java Virtual Machine (JVM) is developed in C++.

5. Games

• Majority of games and game engines are developed in C++. For example ‒ Doom III engine, Counter Strike, Master of Orion III, and so on. All Microsoft's game are written in C++.

6. Software applications used to develop products

1. Adobe: Most of the components like Photoshop, ImageReady, Acrobat Reader, Illustrator are written in C++.

2. Google: Many applications of Google are written in C++ including Google file system, Google Earth, Picasa.

3. Intel: Many chip design and manufacturing software are written in C++.

4. Microsoft: Most of the Microsoft's applications are built using C++. For example ‒ Visual Studio, DirectX, Microsoft IIS and so on.
