DMA

• Direct Memory Access (DMA) is a hardware feature that allows certain peripheral devices (Like disk drive controllers, network cards, and graphics cards) to transfer data directly to and from the main system memory (RAM) without significant intervention from the Central Processing Unit (CPU).

• The primary purpose of DMA is to free the CPU from the tedious, repetitive task of moving large blocks of data, thus improving the system's overall efficiency and speed.

• We will study this topic in detail in the next chapter.
