GIANT MAGNETO‒RESISTANCE (GMR)

Definition

Giant Magneto‒resistance is a quantum mechanical phenomenon in which electrons travelling in ultra thin magnetic film multilayer structures experience large scattering according to there spin states which give rise to correspondingly large chages in electrical resistance (typically greater than 10%).
