The type of earthing to
be provided depends on many factors such as type of soil, type of installation,
etc.. The following table helps in selecting a type of earthing for a particular
application
Type of Earthing

Plate earthing -
Application: Large
installations such as transmission towers, all sub‒stations generating stations
02.
Pipe earthing –
Application:
• For domestic
installations such as heaters, coolers, refrigerators, geysers, electric iron,
etc.
• For 11 kV/400 V
distribution transformers
• For induction motors
rating upto 100 HP
• For conduit pipe in a
wall, all wall brackets
03.
Rod earthing –
Application: In areas
where the soil is loose or sandy
04.
Strip of wire earthing - Application: In rocky ares
