INTRODUCTION
ABOUT SEMICONDUCTOR
The term 'electronics'
has been coined from electron the key particle, which flows through a conductor
gives us electric current. This current can be produced with the help of
batteries and generators which generate the electric power either either dc or
ac at 50 Hz frequency range. This current can be used for various purposes such
as illumination, heating, driving the motors etc. The generation, control,
transmission, distribution and use of both dc and ac at 50 Hz magnitudes
ranging from a few milliamperes to hundreds of amperes are coming under the
preview of so called electrical engineering.
But electronics has
reacting capabilities and potentialities. The flow of electrons has been
regulated and controlled by electronic devices under the stimuli of external
influences, which may be called signal, message, data or any other name
appropriate for the occasion. The controlled flow of electrons has been used
through techniques and forms are known as Electronics.
An electronic is that
in which electrons flow through vacuum or gas or semiconductor. Electronics has
a wide range of applications such as rectification, amplification, power
generation, industrial control, photo‒electricity and communications etc. The
development of communication facilities is perhaps the most significant gift of
electronics in the twentieth century. Electronics has made precision
measurement possible not only for electrical quantities but also other non‒electrical
quantities such as colour, weight, light intensity, odour, time measurements
and many others.
