ADVANTAGES OF SQUIRREL CAGE AND SLIP RING ROTORS

The advantages of the squirrel cage rotor are as follows:

1. Robust construction

2. The absence of brushes reduces the risk of sparking.

3. Lesser maintenance

4. Higher efficiency

5. Power factor is high.

The slip‒ring rotor have the following advantages:

1. High starting torque

2. Low starting current

3. Additional resistance can be connected in the rotor circuit to control the speed.
