The difference between the synchronous speed NS of the rotating magnetic stator field and the actual rotor speed N is called "slip".
SLIP
In practice, the rotor
never succeeds in catching up' with the stator field. If it did, there would be
no relative speed between the stator field and rotor conductors, no induced
rotor currents and therefore, no torque to drive the rotor. That is why the
rotor runs at a speed which is always less than speed of the stator field. The
difference in speed depends on the load on the motor.

% slip = ( NS‒N / NS ) × 100
Here, NS‒N
is called the slip speed.
Then, rotor speed N=NS(1‒S)
