1. A 3 phase induction
motor is wound for 4 poles and is supplied from 50 Hz system. Calculate: (a)
the synchronous speed; (b) the speed of the motor when slip is 4%. [Ans: Ns = 1500 rpm, N = 1440 rpm]
2. A 6 pole induction
motor is fed from 50 Hz supply. If the frequency of rotor emf at full load is 2
Hz. Find the full load slip and speed. [Ans:
S = 0.04 or 4 %, N = 960 rpm]
3. A 6 pole, 50 Hz, 3
phase induction motor runs at 800 rpm at full load. Determine the value of slip
at this load condition. [Ans: S = 0,2]
4. A 3 phase induction
motor is wound for 4 poles and is supplied from a 50 Hz supply. Calculate the
synchronous speed, the speed of the motor when the slip is 3% & the rotor
frequency. [Ans: Ns = 1500 rpm, N = 1455
rpm]
5. A 6 pole, 3 phase,
60 Hz induction motor runs at 4% slip at a certain load. Determine the
synchronous speed, rotor speed. frequency of the rotor currents, speed of the
rotor rotating field with respect to the stator, the speed of the rotor
rotating field with respect to the stator magnetic field. [Ans: NS = 1200 rpm, N = 1152 rpm]
6. A 3 phase, 400 V, 50
Hz, 4 pole induction motor has star connected stator winding, the rotor
resistance and reactance per phase are 0.1Ω and 4Ω respectively. The full load
speed is 40 rpm. Calculate the synchronous speed, slip, rotor emf per phase and
the torque developed by the motor on full load. [Ans: 1500 rpm = NS, S=0.973, Er =224.70 V, Tf=6.541
N‒m]
