Introduction to laser
Light waves can also be amplified and is termed as 'LASER' which is an acronym for "Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation".

We
know that current can be amplified by vacuum tube or transistor amplifier.
Similarly, light waves can also be amplified and is termed as 'LASER' which is
an acronym for "Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of
Radiation". After the discovery of laser by T.H.Maiman in 1960, a rigorous
analysis were made, which lead to many types of lasers got due to the lasing
action with atoms, ions, molecules etc., in gases, solids and liquids. The light
beam from laser has frequency upto 1014 Hz which leads to many
applications in the scientific world and showed that the function of optics is
alive.
